Tony Buzan profile
Tony Buzan has achieved the status of "guru", an accolade accorded to very few. He has worked with: corporate entities and businesses all over the world; academics; Olympic athletes; children of all ages; governments; and high profile individuals, in teaching them how to maximise the use of their brain power. Whether he is working one-to-one or delivering a keynote speech to an audience of thousands, his ability to inspire, motivate and empower is awesome.
A prolific author, he has written more than 100 books, with sales in over 150 countries; his books have been translated into at least 33 languages. Details of most of his publications can be found at www.buzanbooks.com.
Mind Map® techniques are now being applied to language learning. Harper Collins published The Collins Language Revolution series in March 2008. The series was such a success, three new CLR books are to be published in on 1st March this year. With a choice of beginner and intermediate level French, Italian or Spanish, buyers will be presented with a pack for each language, consisting of two CDs, a book and access to an interactive website, which aims to test and reinforce the learning.
One of his recent books, The Ultimate Book of Mind Maps, published by Thorsons, bears testimony to his universally famous invention, Mind Maps, and how their use can boost creativity and change lives for the better.
The Pocket-sized Buzan Bites, published by the BBC, is a series of three distillations on Mind Maps, Speed Reading and Memory - perfect for busy people who want to learn these exciting concepts and techniques quickly.
Tony’s techniques are also taught via a global network of Buzan Licensed Instructors in Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australasia. Further information can be found at www.buzancentres.com.
Tony Buzan is a familiar celebrity on Radio and TV, both in the UK and globally, with a long list of credits to his name. His name is synonymous with all things cerebral and his knowledge is widely sought after by a media and public perennially eager to learn practical advice on how to improve brain function.
He has also found time in his busy schedule to create the World Memory Championships and is a prize-winning poet and athlete. Tony is living proof that his theories really work. He is a passionate advocate of healthy eating combined with mind and body exercise to achieve the most out of life, and is often to be seen expertly sculling in the early morning mists on the River Thames.

What do others say about Tony Buzan events?
In February 2008 the Victorian Public Service Continuous Improvement Network (bold please) (VPSCIN or CIN) hosted Tony Buzan for a lunchtime seminar. Here is the link to their report on the session, with a selection from the many comments from participants:
http://www.vpscin.org/?p=1209
Over 300 CIN members gathered today at Federation Square to hear from one of the world's foremost authorities on thinking and the brain – Tony Buzan.
Tony took the assembled group through a number of exercises that helped demonstrate the creative capacity of the mind, including illuminating examples such as everything you can and can't do with a paper clip, and a more interesting paradigm of left vs right "handedness."
One of the key messages of the session was that it has been only in recent times that we are starting to appreciate the awesome capacity of our brains, and that in reality we have only scratched the surface in terms of our learning, memory and creativity. These capacities, if tapped into, provide us with endless opportunities for improvement.
As we have moved from the ages of Information and Knowledge into the Age Intelligence, it is increasingly important to find the correct formulas for improvement as we become overwhelmed with different forms of information and knowledge.
The value and application of Mind Maps was also explored and we were encouraged to do plenty of day-dreaming and making those day-dreams come alive by putting them into action. In doing we allow our natural brilliance to flower, because we are in fact brilliant, and there is no limit to our potential.

"Tony's talk was quite inspirational and empowering. He challenged the audience to write down as many uses for a paperclip in a short period of time. He then challenged the audience to write down as many things that they could think of that they could not use a paperclip. This really got everybody thinking and discussing their ideas."
"He then called out a string of numbers, which become longer and longer each time he spoke. Apparently, there are people who can remember more than 100 numbers spoken at a second interval apart. One brilliant person with a fabulous memory was able to then call out over 100 numbers in reverse order. A fabulous test of memory!"
"Tony then talked about the various revolutions of the mind - such as the agrarian age, the industrial age, etc. The age we are now in is "the age of the manager of the manager of knowledge."
Two key points he noted were that:
. everyone is brilliant
. copying (and then improving on the original) is one of the best ways to improve. Therefore benchmarking is of critical importance to improve government performance.

"Great seminar with Tony today (and impressive public speaking style by Vic Pol's Simon Overland)."
"Picking up on Tony's point re 'black and blue inks' - when I was at school in Scotland, I was told only mad people wrote with green ink -and it's stuck with me for years! Perhaps a book's worth of ultimate Buzan inspiration would help me embrace change and conquer my verdant reticence?"
"Thanks, Gerry"

"It seemed that no sooner than Tony had started speaking than the session was over ! The consensus from participants is that they could have listened all day."
"The key message for me was to keep challenging those stuffed-shirts that evolved in the information and knowledge ages (and some I suspect in the industrial age) who currently occupy some of the high branches in our org charts."
"If this is the Age of Intelligence as Tony (and authors such as Daniel Pink) have suggested, then the future belongs to the type of people that were present in the room today."
