Aussies Forget Names, Numbers, PINS and Passwords

2012 Australian Memory Championship is on 24-25 November

AUSTRALIA 21 November 2012 — A Newspoll survey of 1220 Aussies, aged 18 years of age and over, indicated 58% sometimes had trouble remembering people’s names, whilst 36% sometimes had trouble recalling phone numbers, pins and passwords.

Furthermore, of the 714 respondents working full or part-time, 81% thought it was likely that an improved memory would help with their work activities.

Jennifer Goddard, Convenor of the Australian Memory Championship says, “There are a many ways people can improve their memory, whether at work or play. Just as it is for our memory athletes, it’s important to ensure you have the right mix of lifestyle factors to help support brain and memory health.

"Some memory improving activities include giving your memory a workout, having a brain healthy diet that includes DHA Omega 3, and exercising daily.”

The 10th annual Australian Memory Championship, powered by life’sDHA, is an event designed to enhance and inspire brain power, to provide a fun creative outlet for memory based activity, and to provide a competitive environment for those wanting to test their memory skills against other memory athletes.

The mental athletes range in age from eight to 43, from Australia, Philippines, Japan, and Hong Kong. The event will take place on the 24-25 November in Brisbane at Niche Event Spaces.

The event is a 10 discipline national competition with various memory tests (random numbers, shuffled playing cards, names and faces) and is an open division to establish an Australian winner.

This Australian Memory Championship is sponsored by
life’sDHA, a vegetarian and sustainable source of DHA omega-3 which is important for brain health throughout every stage of life.

About life’sDHA™
life'sDHA™, a DSM Nutritional Products brand, is a sustainable and vegetarian source of algal DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) omega-3 important for brain, heart and eye health throughout life. Fish are often incorrectly thought to be the only source of DHA omega-3. However, life'sDHA offers a trusted, vegetarian form of algal DHA. Fish are sources of DHA because of the DHA rich microalgae in their food chain; life'sDHA is derived directly from microalgae, a renewable, sustainable source of DHA that does not deplete ocean resources, and is produced entirely in the U.S. in an FDA-inspected facility.
